Spanish holiday guide

All Saints' Day

All Saints’ Day (Todos los Santos) falls on 1 November; in 2026 several Spanish communities take the following Monday (2 November) as the public holiday under the title “Día siguiente a Todos los Santos.”

What it means

Christians honour all saints; Spanish families also visit cemeteries to remember the dead around 1–2 November.

Origin and history

Fixed Latin feast on 1 November; Spanish labour law allows Monday transfer when the feast falls on Sunday.

How it is observed in Spain

Cemetery visits and flowers; 2026 paid holiday on Monday 2 November in listed communities.

Interesting facts

  • 2026 civil title is the Monday transfer, not the Sunday feast name alone.
  • Distinct from All Souls’ Day (2 November liturgically), though popular practice overlaps.
  • Not every community lists this Monday.
